Annual Fundraiser - Feed family of 5 members for 30 days

It’s nearly that time of the year when Muslims fast for a month; best referred to as Ramadan. One of the key features of this Islamic blessed month is giving charity (sadaqa).
One denies their body the basic necessity of food and water from dawn to dusk for 30 consecutive days. This is meant to help us understand the feeling of not having the basic necessity and to appreciate (thank God) for what we have today.

In thanks we are encouraged to give to those who are less fortunate so they too may have some food to break their fast every evening.

The Ramadhan Food Program is a very exciting, quick and hands on project which carries high reward for the amount of donation required.

"Whoever provides the food for a fasting person to break his fast with, then for him is the same reward as his (the fasting person's), without anything being diminished from the reward of the fasting person." At-Trimidhi

For those who wait or delay to donate the whole project is done and dusted and they have to wait until the following year. Alhamdulillah this will be our 10th year engaging in this project.

In summary the project works as follows. Our contact on the ground in Kenya (Park Road Youth Group) prepare a list of food items that a fasting family of approx. 5 members would require for the 30 days of Ramadhan. Below is the list of food items. The cost of this list is sought from local wholesalers and this year that totals to AU$70/-.

Cost Per Family – $70

You and I donate our 70/- (Feed one family) or more to the above Ramadhan account and in turn ODP contracts Park Road Youth Group to purchase the food items, package it to the required quantities, distribute them to the families in need before Ramadhan starts, video record the whole process and once complete send a report to ODP.

ODP in turn updates you on your donation posts the video report on ODP youtube channel.
