After hearing the water problems facing the community in Kinango area south of Mombasa, Kenya, ODP team member together with other brothers from the coastal region went on a fact finding mission to see the situation for themselves. This is their initial video report.
The need for a reliable clean source of drinking water was established and the solution was to drill a borehole. A geological survey was conducted to find out if there is water in the area and how far down it is.
The report showed that there is water at 160 meters depth.
Drilling began in early Jan 2017 and we hit water at 155 meters but the water was very little. Pump testing was conducted for 24 hours and their report should verified the drillers report that the water is very little and also it had a lot of minerails and salt that they recommended that it is not fit for human consumpution.
With a heavy heart the project was suspended and not further funds were used in the purchase of pumps and a solar powered solution.
Any surplus funds were refunded back to ODP bank accounts.
After our fact finding mission of the situation of our brothers and sisters in Kinago, Mbita and Njalo villages we conducted a geological survery in Njalo villlage and the report showed water at 160 meters depth.
We embarked on the drilling and here is the video report.
