Annual Fundraiser – 2014 Ramadhan Food Ration

8th Year running

One Dollar Project annual fundraiser

It’s that time of the year when Muslims fast for a month; best referred to as Ramadan. One of the key features of this Islamic blessed month is giving charity (sadaqa).

One denies their body the basic necessity of food and water from dawn to dusk for 30 consecutive days. This is meant to help us understand the feeling of not having the basic necessity and to appreciate (thank God) for what we have today.

In thanks we are encouraged to give to those who are less fortunate so they too may have some food to break their fast every evening.

A few university friends decided to form an informal non-profit group to collect donations to procure and distribute food rations to those who cannot afford to eat 3 times a day. We have managed to successfully collect and distribute food for the last 7 years with ALL monies collected going towards purchasing food rations. Thanks to God we have since managed to formalise our charity group and ONE DOLLAR PROJECT Inc has adopted it as its annual fundraiser to b run each year. Please take the time to go through our website for additional information.

This year we are trying to reach a broader audience of donors and if you would like to join in providing food for a family of five in Kenya, please donate $90/- dollars to the nominated account on the attached flyer. Any donation is welcome. Largest collection of donations has been $21K in any given year. We would like to beat this record but we need your support.
